superstar, where y' from, how's it going?

My nails are based on this post from Beauty By Kayla Shevonne. Now obviously I'm nowhere near as good as she is so my nails are far worse but I don't think I did too bad for a first attempt.

I used different colours to Kayla because I didn't have a white polish good enough for the base. The base is OPI Pearl Of Wisdom, the cobalt blue is Blue My Mind by H&M and the turquoise colour is For Audrey by China Glaze, one of my all time favourite polishes. Then I used a Models Own top coat. The colours Kayla used are so much better than the ones I used, and I also forgot to do the little spots, but it still looks alright, ish haha.

for all the trouble i had with eyeko's posh polish, i still really like the colour. so i thought i'd try my usual trick of putting china glaze's doll house over the top..

it's looks rather leopard-print-like in this picture, but in real life it's much peachier.

i just took ^that^ picture because, despite the flash, it shows the eyeko polish better :)

i really loved how it turned out, and also really like chucking doll house over the top of random nail varnishes :)

even though basically everyone has seen numerous swatches of barry m mushroom, it's one of my favourite nail varnishes so i'm going to blog about it anyway :). if you're one of the few that hasn't seen it, mushroom is a gorgeous light brown shade. it reminds me of galaxy chocolate, nom. i hate how people make fun of brown nail varnishes with the poo comments, ha, i think they look really nice. mushroom is one of my go-to nail varnishes because it's suitable for so many occasions. i painted my nails with it yesterday, then felt like changing it up a bit, so i painted one nail on each hand with doll house by china glaze. doll house is the typical "barbie" nail varnish - pink with lots of glitter. i can see why some people would think it's tacky or a bit too much, but i like it for going over other nail varnishes or just on one or two nails :)

on my other hand, doll house is on my index finger. i quite like how it looks, and my nails are actually an alright shape for once! the consistency of mushroom is brilliant, i usually find barry m are a bit hit and miss. with a thick coat and careful application, mushroom would be good to go with one coat! i'm a bit careless though so tend to stick to two coats. i did this at about 9pm yesterday and there wasn't even any tip-wear until i got home from school today, and then it was only minimal. i'm always a bit confused when it comes to applying glitter nail varnish, is there really a correct technique?! i put two coats on this time, but i wasn't trying to cover the whole nail.

this was taken at night time, with flash, so it's a bit overly bright, but i like how my nails look so i uploaded it anyway, haha. i buy my barry m nail varnishes from boots, they're on offer quite often so it's always worth a look! i've never tried ordering from the china glaze website before because amazon is cheeper *looks sheepish* when i bought mine it was £8 or £8.95, i'm not sure, but i think prices change on amazon quite often anyway.

china glaze for audrey

i'm completely and utterly obsessed with audrey hepburn, so when i heard about china glaze dedicating a nail varnish to her i HAD to have it. i got mine off amazon for about £8 i think, i've looked at the china glaze website but it doesn't seem to be on there. either that or i just completely overlooked it. when i first saw for audrey, i wasn't that keen on the colour. it looked too bright, almost neon, and i thought it would look cheap on. in real life, it's really quite a wearable shade and the quality of it is amazing. it lasts upto three days on me; this might not sound very impressive to most people, but nail varnish seems to have a habit of falling off my nails. it's really easy to apply, there's no need for a base or top coat and drying time is really reasonable.

please ignore my actual hands, i have eczema so my skin is ridiculously dry. the ridge on my index finger is nothing to do with the nail varnish, i just have really rubbish nails haha. my nails are also really stumpy, but don't let that distract you from how good this nail varnish is. i didn't want to take a picture off google in case it was stealing from someone, and my camera's on its way out so i'm making do with the camera on my phone, which is clearly awful, so you can't see quite how bright it is in real life. it looks much more muted in my pictures, but it's more of a duck-egg colour and it's bright, in a nice way. it's really shiny, again in a nice way, and i don't have any issues with this nail varnish. it might be because i don't expect much from nail varnish, but i'd really recommend this one :)
