why aren't i pixie lott?

scarf: h&m
jumper: urban outfitters
shorts: dorothy perkins
bag: primark
nails: o.p.i. big apple red

Definitely caught the blogging bug again, yay! Quite like this outfit, also LOVE the nail varnish! Such a good red, you can never have to many red nail polishes! I'm stupidly happy today, so I'm just going to ramble a bit about why. It's nothing exciting so feel free to ignore me! I went out last night and it was such a brilliant night ahhh. Even though the fire alarm in the union went off and we all got chucked out for about 10 minutes damn it. Me & my flatmate combined our efforts to make the best bacon sandwich in the whole wide world, we're going to mcdonald's soon, and then going out again tonight. I LOVE MY LIFE.

it's beginning to look a lot like christmas

 scarf: asda i think
bag: h&m, very old
jumper dress: peacocks, old.

Good morning! Been a while since I've been awake this early haha. Thought I'd make the effort today and drag myself to one of my first 9am lectures this semester, managed to make it there on time and then my lecturer didn't turn up! I waited fifteen minutes, then two boys got up and left and the rest of us gradually followed. We weren't emailed or anything to say it was cancelled so now I'm worried the lecturer had a car crash or something, gah.

Anyone else brought out the Christmas jumpers yet? And does anyone else have an advent calendar? Mine is going to be the only thing getting me out of bed throughout December haha. Also have another one waiting for me when I go back home on the 17th so I'll have 17 days worth of advent calendar chocolate to catch up on, nomnomnom!

Now I'm off to enjoy my coffee, mars bar, and Fearne Cotton on BBC Radio1, good times! Hope everyone's OK and has a lovely weekend x

i'm not really a waitress

Am I the only one that loves the name of this nail varnish? Nail polish names are actually my favourite thing about O.P.I. So I got this as part of O.P.I's Best of the Best set, which I got through BuyaPowa. If you don't know what BuyaPowa is, you're missing out! When you order something you become a co-buyer and the more co-buyers there are, the cheaper the price of the item is. So I got the set for £17.50 instead of about £27.

The other colours in the set are: Alpine Snow, Bubble Bath, Tickle My France-y, Strawberry Margarita, Cajun Shrimp, Big Apple Red, You Don't Know Jacques!, Russian Navy and Lincoln Park After Dark.

I love this colour, it's so Christmassy! But I do have issues with this nail varnish. It makes my nails look awful. It shows up every single ridge possible, and it makes a mess around the edges too. BOO. But it's still lovely :).

P.S. Remember I mentioned a pyjama party? Well I went and met Aled from Radio 1! He's from Aberystwyth so occasionally pops up and does stuff for the union. Excuse my hair/face/general appearance, look how cute he is!

N'awwwww.

procrastination method #1

 Scarf: Asda, I think.
Jumper dress: H&M (very old)
Nail varnish: Barry M Cyan Blue

You probably won't be surprised to know that I'm hungover again, such is my life ha. This jumper dress might actually be the most comfortable thing I own, apart from my onesie obviously.. Speaking of my onesie, I might be going to a pyjama party later, yay! Well if I feel any better anyway. Should be brilliant though, my student union is the one.

Just a short update today as my mind is too scrambled to formulate proper sentences but I really need to put off doing my film portfolio haha. Have a lovely day!x

snow fairy

Snow Fairy is just one of many reasons that I bloody love Lush! Though I do wish it was available all year *sad face*. I know the godmother soap smells basically exactly the same but it just isn't the same is it?!

This is the medium sized bottle, you get 250g for £5.95. There's a smaller one for £3.25 and a bigger one for £9.95. I've been using this once or twice a day for a week and that tiny little bit at the top is all that's gone, quite impressive!

It lathers up really easily and quickly, that ^ is all from the smallest blob I could possibly get out of the bottle. It doesn't irritate my skin and actually makes it feel softer, plus the smell (which is DIVINE) lingers on your skin.

What's your favourite Lush product?

h&m lovin'

everything: H&M :')

So much love for H&M at the moment! There isn't one in Aberystwyth and I hate how long they take to deliver so I hadn't had anything new from there in a while. That all changed when I went home for the week though haha, H&M come to mamma! The scarf is from last year though so it's unlikely it'll be there again this year but they'll probably have something similar.

Also, massive love for H&M's body-con skirts! They're only £3.99, come in loads of colours and actually last a while! I have about six of them now and I'll probably get more haha.

Got up early for a lecture this morning, caught a taxi there (this lecture is on the Old College which looks out on the sea, amazing) only to find out it was cancelled! Grrrr. So my friends and I wandered around town for a bit and I ended up in Lloyd's pharmacy. The ones at home just sell Rimmel and Collection 2000 but the pharmacies up here sell Dior, Chanel, Lancome, Clarins, Clinique and more! Definitely going to be bad for my bank balance. They also sell Mavala which I was totally amazed by, only ever seen it online before. So naturally I bought something from there. Also got a sample of Clinique's 3 step skin care system to try out as winter tends to kill my skin. Anyone tried or reviewed it?

Have a good day!x

mustardo

jumper: h&m
short & belt: republic
bag: primark

These pictures are so rough hahah. Cousin It much? Seriously though, I am so tired! Looking forward to my day off on Wednesday already. Still got seminar prep and an essay to do, plus a film viewing to go to. Gah.

Started the 30 day shred yesterday. It was ok at the time, didn't seem that hard. Obviously I was sweaty and occasionally out of breath but I didn't particularly struggle. Then I woke up this morning. Oh. My. God. My legs are in agony! At least that means it's working though I suppose.

Listening to Rihanna's new album at the moment, anyone else heard it? It hasn't blown me away or anything but it seems like a bit of a grower. Same goes for Pixie Lott's album. Any new music recommendations?

the morning after the night before

cardigan: stolen off mam
scarf: asda, literally years old
top: boohoo, actually a dress
skirt: h&m
not sure if you can see my nail varnish but it's rimmel funtime fuschia.

Hello there, happy Saturday! Anyone else hungover? Blergh. Feel ridiculously rough today so got dressed and put make-up on to disguise it ha. There's a paint party at my student union tonight but I'm trying to avoid it, mainly because I'm too protective over all of my clothes to allow any to be damaged by paint but also because I'm going to be a good student and read the book I was supposed to have read last week damn it. What've you got planned for tonight?

Bought the 30 day shred this week. Feel like I've put on so much weight since being at uni! I'm thinking do it now, then do it just after the Christmas holidays and I should stay round about the size I want to be :). Anyone done the 30 day shred? What's it like? Any advice? I'm actually a bit nervous for some strange reason!

Also, was set my next assignment this week. Read the questions and DON'T  UNDERSTAND A THING AH. Definitely not cut out for the work part of uni!

P.S. in case you can't tell, the camera caught me off guard haha.

paler than pale

Top: H&M
Shorts: Asos
Shoes: Next

Hello again! Hope everyone's good. Wore this out last night, here's a link to the shorts. They're a lot nicer in real life but the camera didn't quite capture their beauty, sad face.

As you can probably guess, I've decided to give up fake tan. Not that I wear it much anyway, but I used to feel horribly pale on nights out when other girls had lovely golden tans and I was like a ghost. But now I'm embracing my paleness. I'm hoping with enough TLC, I can get lovely porcelain skin like Zooey Deschanel or someone. It's unlikely, but still. Do you wear fake tan much?

I'm off home for a week tomorrow. Not sure whether to be excited or to be dreading it! It'll be amazing to spend so much time with my family & certain friends, but I'm going to miss everyone at uni so much! It's weird how attached I am already. I also have two infections at the moment, mehhh. One of my fingers is swollen so I'm on antibiotics for that, and then I have a skin infection so I have steroid cream for that. Suppose it's good that I get a week away from alcohol and university to recover though ha.

Hope you're all OK!x

two posts in two days!

Jumper: Asos
Chinos: Male section of Primark
Bag: Primark

Posting again, what has gotten into me?! Anyway, wore this for an emergency trip to McDonald's to cure a hangover the other day haha. I adore this outfit, think it's just the way the colours compliment each other. Also wore one of my pairs of brogues with this but sadly I haven't figured out a way to take full length pictures in my new room yet. I'll figure it out soon though!

I'm trying to stay in and do work like a good little student but it's just not turning out as planned haha. Decided now that I'm allowed to read one blog post for every act of Titus Andronicus that I read, and then for every chapter of my other books that I read. Oh, life..

What's everyone up to this week?
Any website recommendations for an incredibly bored person in dire need of new procrastination methods?

hi hi hi

Hat: not sure, ages old.
Jumper: H&M
Shorts: Dorothy Perkins
Bag: Primark
Nails: CG For Audrey

Hello there you bunch of strangers! How is everyone? Hope you're all good.

Wore this to nip to the shops the other day. It wasn't really cold enough to warrant wearing a hat but it looked like it may start raining & I couldn't find my umbrella haha.

What did everyone do for Halloween? Halloween is quite a big deal where I live at the moment so the weekend was insane! I dressed up as Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn's character in Breakfast at Tiffany's) on the one night. I was going to go as a vampire version of her to make it a big more creepy but someone else didn't have a costume so I donated my vampire accessories. Then my block had a block party on actual Halloween and I dressed up as a mime for that. Really wanted to dress as a Rubik's cube but couldn't find the right sized box :(.

P.S - Happy Bonfire Night for tomorrow :)

bloggy blog

So I'm hoping this is my return to the "blogging world" for good! Freshers was just a bit insane (I didn't go to sleep before 4am once) and this week I've had a few lectures/seminars and then just been with my friends all the time. Anyway, I have a review for you!

I'm not sure where else this is sold but I got mine from Superdrug. There is a Boots in Aberystwyth but I've never found it on purpose, I always just sort of stumble past it on a night out or after a trip to the beach hah. But the Superdrug is on the main road through town so it's a lot easier to find. It cost £1.99 and it smells absolutely divine, it really is like rubbing yourself in strawberry milkshake!

I'm not sure whether it actually did anything good for my skin, but it didn't irritate it at all. For £1.99, I may be willing to use it purely for the smell. I've been getting a lot more into shower gels lately since I have no bath here, booooo.

The one thing I didn't like about the product is the grammar on the bottle. It really is bad. I know mine isn't exactly perfect but I do this for fun, this isn't on something that people are going to buy!

Anyway, a little update on my life for you now! I'm singleee. It's no big deal really and I'm not that bothered, I just didn't think it was fair on either of us to stay together when we'd probably be happier and have more fun if we finished. I LOVE my flatmates, though there is one girl I'm not sure of and one boy who does nothing for the flat (like he doesn't cook or clean). My lectures and everything are going OK but I suppose it's early days yet. Basically, though, I'm insanely happy!

universityyy!

Hello! I've been quite busy over the last few days so have SO many blogs to catch up on! So I got to uni yesterday, eeeeeek. It hasn't been anywhere as bad as I expected haha. My dad got a big car from work so I drove up with my parents & brother, then they stayed in a hotel nearby overnight. It was a bit of a shock when I got here as I ticked the box for single sex accommodation, and the first person I met was a boy ha! So it turns out I'm living with two other girls and five boys, luckily everyone's really nice! Five of us went out last night and tackled the big hill down to hill and back up, you should see my feet now - blisters everywhere! Wasn't fussed on my bedroom when I first saw it, but now I've unpacked all my stuff it just seems like home. I've been calling it home already, how weird.

Not sure what we'll be doing tonight, we're thinking either bond over alcohol in the flat or go on a pub crawl or something. Seriously don't know how I'm going to survive freshers week, it's hard work! Posting may be a bit sporadic as I'm never normally this busy hah. This is a bit of a pointless post really but I just felt like updating you all, well done to anyone that actually bothered reading it!

How's everyone else finding university?
What was your university experience like?

prison clothes

top: asos
skirt: boohoo
tights: idk.

The clothes I wore today. Didn't even go anywhere but I just had one of those days when you fancy getting dressed. Always feel a bit nervous about wearing black and white stripy clothes since people could make jokes referring to prison clothes hah.

Forget how much I like this skirt; had it absolutely ages but only worn it like twice. Must remember to wear it more often! Anyone else have something like that? That you rarely wear but actually looks rather nice on you.

Watching the episode of Eastenders from earlier on at the moment, very emotional! Poor Jody :(

monday

 jumper: urban outfitters
jeans: asos
necklace: topshop

My first ever Urban Outfitters purchase! I've never ordered offline as the selection just overwhelmed me, and I've never been in the Cardiff shop before as I tend to stick to Queen Street and the arcades for shopping so I'd just never came across it. This time, I made a point of finding out from friends where it was, and also asked the woman working in Leia. I felt like she owed me it since my mother and I had just paid over £90 on bras!

Anyway, it's a really nice shop. It's the only Urban Outfitters in Wales and it's apparently one of the biggest  in the UK? My mother hated me by the time we left though! Wore this outfit up my boyfriend's house last night for a chinese & x-factor, anyone else watch it? I don't really have a favourite person that stands out at the minute, but that'll probably change after bootcamp. Who's your favourite?

Been to the dentist today so I'm super miserable right now! I'm usually terrified of the dentist and cry the whole way through *cringe* but I've figured out that it doesn't even hurt that much when I have to have a filling, it's just the fear of it. So I managed to keep calm and avoid turning on the water works, though my poor mother's hand is now crushed from me squeezing it the whole time hah.

Anyone fancy linking to their posts in the comments? I feel like I miss out on loads as I'm too lazy to scroll through the dashboard!
Have a good week :)

my first blog award

Thanks to the lovely Alice from Pretty Wonderful who gave me my first blog award!

The rules
- Thank and link back to the person who awarded you
- Write 7 random things about yourself
- Spread the love to 15 other bloggers

Already done the first one so I'll get cracking with my seven things..

1. I've wanted a dog for as long as I can remember but I'm basically allergic to everything with fur :( My Bampy's dog is the loveliest dog ever and I sort of consider her mine since I named her, walk her, and grew up with her, but it's not the same! I'd love any dog & constantly think about what I'd name my dog & where I'd walk it, sad I know haha. I really want a Puggle (cross between a Pug and a Beagle) named Puddle :) Anyone else have stupid allergies?
2. I've worked for an anti-smoking charity for about 4 years now. I won't try and convince you to quit and bombard you with facts if we ever meet, hah. It's just something that's quite close to home for me as a lot of my family members have been affected by smoking related diseases.
3. I chose my GCSE and A Level subjects based on what my best friends were taking and ended up not doing anywhere near as well as I should've, being completely clueless about what I want to do in uni and just doing the first thing that came to mind. Would do almost anything to be able to go back to my GCSEs and pick differently!
4. Really simple things make me happy. Like the  way that 'vevo' bounces up and down on youtube videos when you hover your cursor over it, I've had hours of amusement over that one haha!
5. I'm quite a weird mix of a person! What I mean is I like a weird mixture of stuff. I like reading philosophical stuff as much as I like reading blogs, I like Kerry Katona as much as I like Richard Dawkins, and I enjoy watching Question Time and Parliament just as much as I like Big Brother, Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives etc haha.
6. I'm a huge fan of Harry Potter and genuinely don't understand how people can not like it! Same goes for marmite haha. Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite because Harry gets Sirius (forever annoyed at J.K.Rowling for killing off Sirius). My Pottermore username is WatchFirebolt94, feel free to add me!
7. I don't remember the last time I ate fruit, unless you count the pineapple that was just on my pizza! It's not that I don't like fruit, I just tend to reach for biscuits & crisps haha. Very bad habit!

Spreading the love:

The bloggers I chose were people whose blogs I read on a regular basis & who tend to comment back, just basically nice people! If I didn't include you then I am sorry, it was just really hard trying to narrow down the hundreds of blogs I follow to fifteen!

e.l.f nail polish

Out of all the e.l.f products I've tried so far, their nail polish is my least favourite. This is in shade 'Plum'. It didn't dry as quickly as I would've liked and the colour is so flat without a top coat! I think they tried going for a dupe of OPI Lincoln Park After Dark, but they just didn't manage to get the same wow factor. I used my Models Own top coat, which usually does the job rather well, but I think you'd need a really awesome top coat to turn this into one of those "wow" polishes.

Also...the staying power. It is awful! Actually awful. I painted my nails at about 3pm (on Tuesday) and it had chipped quite badly by nighttime. I didn't even do anything to chip them! Damn it.

Have you tried any e.l.f polishes? What did you make of them?

You can buy it here for £1.50.

wishlist wednesday on a thursday

Meant to post about this yesterday but lazy me spent the day in bed watching films hah. By the way, this is another university related post :).

So I'm not too worried about storage space in uni as I have a decent sized cupboard, a rather large desk & some shelves aaand I think there's storage space under the beds too. If you go to this page, there's a video of where I'll be living. The one thing I am a bit concerned about is DVD space. The shelves are probably going to house all my textbooks & the cupboard will be for my clothes, obviously. I'm not even sure if I'll be watching DVDs often when I get there but I'd rather have them with me than not, because I am a total film geek. I'm considering a DVD stand and maybe some DVD boxes too (I have a lot of DVDs).

Something like this, though to me it looks more like a CD stand?

And then something like these

Both from Ikea. I bloody love Ikea.
I'd probably spruce them up a bit but white seems a good starting point :)
Everyone ready for uni now? Think I've got basically everything but I just don't feel ready to leave home! Going to miss certain people so much!

P.S. if you haven't already heard it, check out Jon Mclaughlin's new album. It's on Spotify and you should be able to find it elsewhere too :). His songs Human, Beautiful disaster and Love have been favourites of mine for years! He's a bit soppy but I love him anyway!

ins and outs

Ins:

1. Lazy breakfasts. I'm making the most of my last weeks at home, spending the majority of the morning cuddled up on the settee with old films. Watching Marnie at the moment (Alfred Hitchcock film with Tippi Hedren and Sean Connery, very good) and I've polished off crumpets with butter and jam, yum. What's your favourite breakfast?

2. Winter clothing. I've bought a new pair of plain black wedges for day to day wear in winter, and I'm already thinking about what winter coat to get. What will you be buying this winter?

3. E.l.f lip products. I've tried five so far and they're all really good quality. Been meaning to review them but I'm too lazy.

Outs:
1. Skin infections, blegh. They don't really affect me in any way, they just look ugly.

2. The realisation that there is no Lush or H&M in Aberystwyth. HOW WILL I LIVE. What shops do you need nearby?

3. Being behind on all my favourite blogs, there just isn't enough time in the day to keep up to date! How do you manage to keep up to date with your favourite blogs?

What are your ins and outs?

the breakfast club

The title has nothing whatsoever to do with the post; it just happens to be one of my favourite films and I'm watching it at the moment. Anyone else like it? Personally, I'm all for '80s teen films!

I'm sure everyone that reads this blog is aware of Batiste and needs no introduction, but it is one of my few absolutely essential products so it seems about time I posted about it. Also, not everyone will have tried this scent.  I'm not all that fussed on the smell of it, it smells like cheap perfume to me. But my mother always whinges about the smell when I use the regular Batiste and this version doesn't seem to bother her. It doesn't smell that bad, it's actually alright from afar but it can be a bit strong when you're using it. I'm weirdly sensitive to smells though so this may not bother other people so much! This is the 200ml version so it's ideal for me as the normal sized bottles run out stupidly quickly. I think it set me back £2.99 from Tesco, it was definitely less than £3 anyway.

The main reason I use dry shampoo is for my full fringe. Not because it's greasy all the time, but because it tends to split. I know there are other products out there that are specifically designed to hold hair in place and blah blah blah but Batiste is the only thing that works on my fringe. It makes it look cleaner, gives it just the right amount of volume, works better than any hairspray I've ever used, and is very affordable!

What are your absolutely essential products?
Are you a fan of dry shampoo or do you think we should stop being so lazy and actually wash our hair?

P.S. ran 3 miles earlier. Usually that's fine, not so much when you have a cough and your asthma's playing up though. Don't try this at home, kids!
